Life’s a Beach (Claire Cook) ***

Fast & easy summer read exploring dynamics of two sisters and finding one’s life even after 40.  I have tried to read some of the “Chick-Lit” books about girls in their 20s, but really, they are girls in their 20s.  I have little patience for some of that —– ?   —naiveté?  —foolishness?  —self-absorption?   Okay, so maybe what Ginger faces in Life’s a Beach is not much different, but she also does it with perspective from having experienced more—having had more jobs, more boyfriends, more time to know her family, etc.  No, the book is not deep or too heavy into relationships, but it nicely touches on many of the issues present, just enough to see yourself or those you know, but not so much that you get too wrapped up in what’s meant to be summer fun reading.
