The Impossible is a beautiful movie that reminds us how amazing—-in so, so many ways—-the world is. In watching this, through the tears that flowed often, I wanted to believe it was fiction—-that there is no way this could happen. But in watching this, through the tears that flowed often, I knew how true the story was. The devastation. The tragedies. The loss of lives.
—–But the tragic nature of the events was not the only amazing part that evoked my tears. They flowed too based on the amazing manner in which people helped others and cared for others. It is in that part of the story that the spirit of humanity is championed. It is in that part of the story that I was truly humbled, heartened, and hopeful.
Naomi Watts does indeed do a fantastic job with her character. But it was boys, to me, who steal the show, with the middle son completely charming me.
Take tissues. Be amazed. The Impossible.
