The Untethered Soul has good things to say. And they are pretty basic. Admittedly, for the researcher/scholarly writer I am, I had difficulty at times with the lack of references, research, data, etc. But this isn’t about that. This book, instead, is about depth and getting along in life.
As I read this book, I was also reading another book—one that did fulfill those “researched” needs that I have. Interestingly, both books made many of the same points. In this book, those points were made as sweeping statements. In the other, they were supported with hundreds of interviews that were catalogued and studied., and those points were more specific. Both books, though, share a theme about living life.
The Untethered Soul’s theme is broad and brings its approach from the grand scale: let go. No, really—let go. Be. Exist. Allow. At its core, that’s the message. Yes, it took many pages to say it, and yes, it often felt repetitive. But I believe that so many of us are so dreadful at letting go that it does not hurt a bit to be instructed to do so over and over again. And again.
And again.
Although the book has many attempts at examples, I don’t think that many were that concrete. Still, it was a book I’m glad that I read. As for *how* to let go, well, that’s why this isn’t the only book I’ve been reading.
