I didn’t plan to see Last Vegas, but when a friend asked at 7:20 pm if I wanted to go see a movie that night, we picked what was showing. Among what was available and what both of us were willing and in a mood to see, we walked into the theater to see Last Vegas, just as the trailers had started.
Last Vegas could be seen as the geriatric Hangover. But it’s quite different and not only because so many of the jokes are built around aging. It has a different underlying thread, even if that thread seems to be a bit unraveled and loose. That said, did I laugh? Sure. Did I groan? No doubt. Did I cringe? Yes, but not in the Hangover way that burned in your mind.
Bottom line—Last Vegas delivered a little entertainment but was quickly forgotten. It’s not a great movie; I’m not even sure I’d say it was a good movie. But it also wasn’t a bad movie. And I was glad to go see a flick with a friend.
