Sex Tape *

Anything that could have been funny was, as is too often the case, overplayed in trailers. The rest failed to hold either my attention or any desire to stay awake. The acting seemed phoned in with a forced script, pretty much just completing the call to get that next paycheck. This is unfortunate, though, as both leads here really do have more talent to offer.

I watched this because I thought a comedy might be nice after other movies, watched while ill, admittedly. (You might argue it’s not fair to judge a movie when ill, but to be fairer, keep in mind that the other two I’d watched weren’t bad. And the book I read and finished was truly entertaining.) But Sex Tape and its dull humor (use of that word is generous) couldn’t keep me awake nor could it even make me want to stay awake, and even after that, I had zero desire to find out what I’d missed by falling asleep then waking only to turn off the television. I’d say it was time wasted, but it was really just that time needed to go to sleep.

I know this movie has its target audience. And I know I’m not a member of that audience. I suppose every once in a while it’s beneficial to remind myself, though, of the reason these are the films I don’t go see in the theater. Sex Tape accomplished that. ; )

Staying thoughtful?
