Wish I Was Here **

Wish I Was Here is a nice enough movie even if too predictable. It’s surface-good, and there are some great moments and quality, subtle commentaries on issues, but there’s just not enough underneath that can elevate it higher to being more than just good enough.

Kate Hudson was less cute than normal, maybe trying to be more dramatic but not yet there. Zach Braff was okay but not as good as he’s been in the past (which is unfortunate as I think this movie was a very personal project for him), and Mandy Pantikin just didn’t have as much sparkle as he usually brings to a role, no matter the type of role. Still, for me, someone who was too tired to read and truly had nothing else to do having been confined to a ship cabin for twenty-four hours (thank you, Royal Caribbean for the free movies during my quarantine!), this was a far cry above the other movie offerings for on-demand flicks. ; )

Staying thoughtful?
