The Hundred Foot Journey ***

The Hundred-Foot Journey is a delightfully charming film that brought warmth and smiles. It’s cliché, sure, but it’s done with enough heart that I wasn’t bothered by the repeated-time-and-again story in the least. And Helen Mirren, of course, shines, from haughty to heartwarmingly enchanting.

As a student of cooking, as a person who nurtures through food, and as a woman with a fondness for Indian culture and cuisine, I checked every box for a comfortable tale. Granted, if those things aren’t the areas that bring you smiles, the movie may be too flat and too worn for you.

Yes, my movie companion and I knew from the beginning the stories being set up and how they would eventually end. But it was a nice journey, watching the characters on their predestined path.

Staying thoughtful?
